Sydney Philharmonia Choirs will continue our commitment to high quality music courses for adults interested in sharpening their vocal, musical and ensemble skills in 2008.
This year, however, we will be offering both Beginner and Intermediate courses. The Beginners classes will be held every Wednesday at 6:30pm and Intermediate on Mondays at 6:30pm.
Beginner’s Sound Development is based upon a practical component for vocal technique and production as well as a theory component on recognising and utilising the basic fundamentals of music notation as applied to vocal and/or choral scores. The student will develop a sound level of basic music literacy and a number of strategies for successful sight singing.
Intermediate Sound Development will also have both practical and a theory components extending upon a foundation of the basics. New skills will include Asymmetric time signatures, and further practice in sightseeing and score reading strategies.
Term 1:
Beginners Course: Commences at 6.30pm Wednesday 5th March and runs 12th, 19th, 26th March, 2nd, 16th, 23rd and 30th April (all sessions run 6.30pm-9.30pm)
Term 2:
Beginners Course: Commences at 6.30pm Wednesday 7th May and runs 14th, 21st, 28th May, 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th May (all sessions run 6.30pm-9.30pm)
Intermediate Course: Commences at 6.30pm Monday 5th, May then runs 12th, 26th May, 2nd, 16th, 23rd, 30th June and 7th July (all sessions run 6.30pm-9.30pm)
Term 3:
Beginners Course: Commences at 6.30pm Wednesday 30th July and runs 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th August, 3rd, 10th and 17th September. (all sessions run 6.30pm-9.30pm)
Intermediate Course: Commences at 6.30pm Monday 28th July and runs 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th August and 1st, 8th, and 15th September. (all sessions run 6.30pm-9.30pm)
