Sydney Philharmonia Chamber Singers
The Motet choir performs a wide variety of works often in settings
such as City Recital Hall Angel Place and St. Andrew’s
Cathedral where as a chamber choir, generally 36 voices, they
are best appreciated.
Recent performances have included the world premiere performances
of Andrew Schultz’s Journey to Horseshoe Bend with Sydney
Symphony Orchestra, J.S. Bach’s St Mark Passion, a program
of works by Samuel Barber, Aaron Copland and Dominick Argento
and future performances include works by Rameau, Machaut and
Monteverdi.
In 2002 this choir was invited to the Cambridge Summer Music
Festival and thus had the privilege of presenting a concert
in King’s College Chapel, Cambridge.
As a small group, the audition process is the most selective
of the organisation, with a focus on vocal quality, sight reading
skills, and the need for a particular voice part within the
group. See the auditions and open days page on this website
for more information.
