In 2007 Sydney Philharmonia launched this new ensemble of approximately 300 experienced (unauditioned) choristers, the Sydney Philharmonia Festival Chorus.
The Festival Chorus provides choristers with performance opportunities of the highest quality, performing two programs annually in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House, accompanied by a professional orchestra and featuring some of Australia’s finest soloists. The ensemble is conducted by Sydney Philharmonia Artistic and Musical Director, Brett Weymark, who is a passionate and energetic conductor, deeply committed to the development of this Chorus.
In 2008 the Chorus programs will feature works by two of the Western musical greats: George Frideric Handel and Ludwig van Beethoven. Below are the dates for the rehearsal periods and performances.
Please note, in order to be able to take part in the Festival Chorus in 2008, you need to commit to both programs and attend all rehearsals. There is a $28 application fee (non-refundable under any circumstances) and if you are accepted there is an annual membership fee of $135.
