Jephtha’s rash promise to God, should he be victorious, to sacrifice the first creature he meets on his return home after battle, plays him false as he is met by his beloved daughter Iphis.

Borne out of tragedy, Jephtha was the last of Handel’s works before blindness forced the master to lay down his pen.

Discover the work that is truly a befitting end to Handel’s genius repertoire.
