Sydney Philharmonia Festival Chorus, VOX
We wanted to bring several different people, choirs and
ideas together for this concert in the newly reopened
Sydney Town Hall.
Most of you will know that the jewel in the crown is the grand organ and it is with great excitement that we invite Sydney's foremost player, David Drury, to unleash the power of this mighty machine.
This is just the right occasion to present the great works for organ and large chorus such as Parry's I Was Glad and Blessed Pair of Sirens! But as a contrast with the music of the "mother country", we will be exploring the land, the people and the cities of Australia through some of this country's most
evocative repertoire.
If you haven't heard our youth choir VOX sing, then book your seats now. They will perform Paul Stanhope's Geography Songs, Stephen Adams' Sydney Dreaming and Iain Grandage's Shore, written especially for our 2009 Dawn Chorus performances.
But to top it all off, a world premiere: Brighton to Bondi, a work written especially for this concert by Artistic & Musical Director Brett Weymark about "the ten pound poms".
