The French choral tradition is a store of hidden treasures. This program will feature a cappella works of the great Burgundian school of composers such as Dufay and Busnois, who paved the way for all who came afterwards.

De Lalande, like his contemporaries Rameau and Charpentier, excelled in combining the dance like forms of French instrumental music with the vocal writing of the high Baroque. His grand motet, De profundis clamavi, is opulent and daring in its harmony and melodic invention. It is the music of the court of King Louis XIV.

Fauré was a unique composer whose music has a simplicity and delicacy that is nowhere better experienced than in his reflective and ultimately comforting setting of the Requiem text.

This will be a night of sublime French music to delight
your ears.
