Sydney Philharmonia doesn’t just put on concerts.

TIME OUT FOR TONE QUALITY

A workshop for all voices using English and Irish folk song, this one-day workshop will be a great vocal health check and recharge, away from the complexity of choral singing.

An opportunity for you to explore what is beautiful tone and what factors can compromise it with two experienced singing teachers.

With a focus on vocal technique that improves tone quality this day long workshop will look at:

  • How to manage and release tension
  • How to colour sound with appropriate blend of head and body resonance
  • Understanding dissociation of muscle strength and flexibility
  • Increasing confidence to realise your potential as an expressive singer

The day will combine group workshop sessions and master class style opportunities for solo singing.

Repertoire: A range of short pieces will be available to down load for the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs website.
Participants also encouraged to bring own repertoire in the genre.
  • Vocal tutors: Lanneke Wallace-Wells (Song Company) and Lisa Nolan

    Lanneke Wallace-Wells

Since graduating from UNSW with a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education with Music Performance Honours, Lanneke has established herself as a professional singer and teacher in both classical and contemporary music styles.  Lanneke joined the prestigious Song Company as Mezzo-Soprano in 2009.  They have recently toured to China and joined leading Australian artists as part of Expo in June 2010. In addition to this, Lanneke has become involved in conducting choral ensembles in recent years. In 2010 she conducted the choir for Mary MacKillop’s Feast Day mass at St Mary’s North Sydney presided by Cardinal Pell and the Sisters of St Joseph.

Lanneke has a continuing interest in Vocal Pedagogy, and has been researching varied methods and styles of singing teaching for many years.  Her experience in both fields of Classical and Jazz music has given her a broad understanding of the vocal challenges faced by singers today, whatever the style.

Sydney Philharmonia is really delighted to welcome Lanneke as an education program tutor. We are sure that all singers joining the August workshop  will enjoy her dynamic teaching style and will gain a lot from the experience.
