Young Artists in Choral Music
Philharmonia platform for Australia's outstanding singers
SPC has been the leading organisation presenting choral music for almost 100 years. In so doing they are a major supporter of Australian solo artists. Many young Australian soloists have gone on to establish international careers, having learned their craft and gained vital experience of singing the concert repertoire through engagements with the SPC.
We support a unique program to train young conductors through our Assistant Chorus Master position. This year-long professional development opportunity gives talented musicians the chance to work with all the Philharmonia choirs in a full season of major symphonic choral works and a cappella programs.
Lastly we want a new generation of Australian composers to write the choral works that will be classics in another 100 years.
What we want to achieve
- Establish an annual program featuring emerging young soloists.
- Support the continued employment of a young conductor as our Assistant Chorus Master.
- Commission new works for the choirs from young Australian composers.
