Sydney Philharmonia Choirs brings together several different auditioned choirs as well as open participation and education programs for singers. The members of the principal choirs, who have busy lives when not singing with us, are skilled committed singers who undergo an audition to become regular members and engage in weekly rehearsals towards a wide range of performances throughout the year.
The choirs have a national and international reputation. They present major choral repertoire including renowned sacred and secular works. They champion Australian choral music through new commissions and offer Australian audiences the opportunity to experience exceptional live classical music.
Sydney Philharmonia Choirs performs a cappella and with various orchestras reflecting the variety of music in the season. In particular
they have an ongoing partnership with Sydney Symphony, and
frequently share the platform with internationally acclaimed
soloists and conductors.
On its 2010 tour London, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs was hailed by
reviewers as ‘the real stars’ of the opening night of the BBC Proms.
