Eric Whitacre is a legend in the choral world. He is the pioneer of the virtual choir concept (years before the pandemic), a Grammy Award-winning composer and conductor and renowned speaker and teacher. He holds prestigious positions with the Los Angeles Master Chorale (Artist in Residence), Visiting Composer at Pembroke College, Cambridge, he is a Yamaha Artist and also an Ambassador for the Royal College of Music in London. Eric is also a long-term friend of Sydney Philharmonia Choirs: he conducted the Choirs in 2013, conducted the Sydney premiere of The Sacred Veil in 2022 and returns in 2025 with his latest masterpiece, Eternity in an Hour, on 27 June at the Sydney Opera House.
Ahead of his only Sydney concert, he will will lead a 2-hour workshop for choristers covering vocal expression and performance technique.
Who is this for? This workshop is open to everyone. Singers who are used to singing in a choir and can read music will get a lot from this experience.
What will we sing? Works written by Eric Whitacre: Sing Gently, Little Man in a Hurry and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.
Sheet music will be distributed on the night at the event and is yours to keep.
