Claire Duffy – President & Non-Executive Director – Member
Claire Duffy has eleven years experience on boards in corporate and arts organisations: Gondwana Choirs, The Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP), Beyond Online, and previously with Sydney Philharmonia in the 1980s.
Claire has a Bachelor of Arts, Diploma of Education and Masters in Public Policy from the University of Sydney.
Her professional background is in culture and education. She has been a senior executive in NSW and Commonwealth arts funding agencies, and as a consultant she has advised boards in many cultural organisations. In her early career she managed the Sydney Youth Orchestra, and established and led Museum Education services. Her later career was as an English teacher. She is a popular education author, writing and speaking about writing and speaking. She has been a regular guest on ABC radio talkback with host James Valentine.
Claire joined Sydney Philharmonia Choirs in 1975, when there were two choirs and fewer than 200 singers. She delights in our growth since then. She combines a very experienced member’s perspective with organisational knowledge and strategic policy experience. She has no doubt about why choral singing matters and the joy it brings.
