Festival Chorus

Festival Chorus is the largest of the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, with 400 members who come together twice a year to perform works from a diverse musical range. 2016 performances included Ralph Vaughan Williams A Sea Symphony and Leonard Bernstein's hit musical Wonderful Town.

Festival Chorus performances are often in collaboration with other organisations such as musical theatre company Squabbalogic and Sydney Youth Orchestra, adding further elements of creativity and collaboration. They are a lot of fun for all. In 2017 Festival Chorus tackle two exciting and challenging programs; Rossini Stabat Mater & Elgar The Dream of Gerontius.

The Festival Chorus fee includes 20 + rehearsals across the course of the year, all music, vocal coaching, and, best of all, the chance to sing alongside a full orchestra, world-class soloists and 350 other passionate singers on the Sydney Opera House stage.

Choristers Skills:

In 2017 Festival choristers can take advantage of our Chorister Skills sessions providing a more formalised regular session for improving sight singing and music skills. Sessions will be held 25 minutes prior to rehearsal. They will be ed by our music staff and will concentrate on the basics of sighting singing, breathing and posture. This additional coaching is included in your fee for 2017.
