Choral Toolkit

Building your musicianship and confidence through joyful singing

Have you ever wanted to join a choir but think you don’t have a voice, or the skills to enjoy it? Are you an experienced singer already in a choir but want to sharpen up your musicianship and take your voice to the next level? If yes, then come along to these Choral Toolkit sessions and develop your skills from foundation up.

Tutors Carla Trott and Michael Bradshaw – two of Australia’s leading practitioners in aural-vocal music education – will provide hands-on experiences to learn essential ‘tools’ for musical literacy and musicianship.

Sessions will focus on the study of repertoire and practical skills so that every participant, no matter their musical background, is sure to be supported and challenged.

Carla Trott

“Everyone has a voice, and singing is the fastest way to improve as musicians.”

~ Carla Trott, Tutor

Who is this for?

  • Beginners who want to learn to sing in a choir with confidence.
  • Anyone who sings in their local community choir and wants to skill up.
  • Experienced singers who want to develop a better theoretical understanding of what they are doing.

What will I get from this?

  • Better breath control
  • Improved sight reading
  • A wider vocal range
  • Sing in tune
  • Stage-ready confidence for choirs of all types and sizes

By the end, you’ll have skills you can apply in your community choir, your individual practice sessions, or confidently take part in any of Sydney Philharmonia Choirs’ community choirs, or even audition for Symphony Chorus. You’ll feel the unique joy and health benefits that comes with singing with others with none of the fear that you can’t do this. You can! You absolutely can!
