Leave a Lasting Legacy Through Music
Commissioning a new piece of music is a powerful way to create a lasting legacy – an artistic gift that will resonate far into the future. When you commission a work, your name – or that of a loved one – can be inscribed at the top of the musical score, permanently woven into the fabric of its future.
When you choose to commission with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, you won’t be alone. We’ll guide you every step of the way – from selecting a composer and discussing potential texts, to deciding on the length and whether to include instrumental accompaniment. Most importantly, we’ll ensure that your commissioned work is brought to life in concert, performed by our singers for an appreciative live audience.
How much does it cost?
Commissioning fees vary depending on the composer, the length and complexity of the piece, and whether it includes instrumental forces. As a general guide, costs range from $1,000 to $2,000 per minute of music. A three-minute work can be commissioned from around $3,000.
How will I be recognised?
You will be formally credited on the score of the work – every time it is printed, your name or dedication will appear. Many donors choose wording such as:
Commissioned by Joan & John Smith for Sydney Philharmonia Choirs
Commissioned in memory of Jill Smith by Joan & John Smith for Sydney Philharmonia Choirs
We are always happy to work with you on the wording to ensure it reflects your wishes.
