“It is extraordinary. My notes are wobbly, my voice is uneven, but as the last bars of… music and song rise loudly and triumphantly, I cry at the huge, collaborative and euphoric wonder of it all.”
– The Sydney Morning Herald, 2023 –
ChorusOz is your chance to experience the energy and joy of our annual ‘big sing’ – an inspiring weekend of community and music-making at the Sydney Opera House.
For 2026, Brett Weymark has turned his sights on one the most spectacular operas of all, Verdi’s Aida, for what he predicts could be the best ChorusOz ever.
Our concert highlights will focus on the love triangle at the heart of the plot, so you’ll get to hear some of your favourite arias and duets (think ‘Celeste Aida’ and ‘O patria mia’), and to make the experience more immediate and accessible, we’ll be singing in English. But ultimately, this Aida is all about great choruses from a composer who was at the top of his game. Everyone knows the Triumphal Chorus, of course, but there is so much more thrilling music to sing and this is your chance to get to know it.
With more than 800 singers, there won’t be room for elephants, but whether you’re listening or singing, you can be guaranteed an evening of wall-to-wall highlights.
Want to sing in ChorusOz? ChorusOz 2026 takes place on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June. Visit chorusoz.com.au to sign up as a participant. All levels of singing experience welcome.
